Ragging is a Criminal Offence

In accordance with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of India, University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Bar Council of India (BCI), Navyug Vidhi Mahavidhayalaya strictly enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging in any form.

Ragging is strictly prohibited within the college premises, classrooms, library, canteens, and even outside the campus. Any student found guilty of participating in, abetting, or propagating ragging will face severe disciplinary action, including rustication and filing of an FIR.

What constitutes Ragging?

  • Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
  • Indulging in undisciplined activities that cause or are likely to cause hardship, physical or psychological harm, or raise fear or apprehension thereof.
  • Asking a student to do any act which they will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing a sense of shame, torment, or embarrassment.
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm.

Disciplinary Actions & Punishments

Depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt, the Anti-Ragging Committee will award one or more of the following punishments to those found guilty.

Suspension

Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges for a specific period.

Cancellation

Cancellation of admission and withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship.

Rustication

Rustication from the institution for periods ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.

Police FIR

Filing of First Information Report (FIR) with the local police under relevant penal laws.

Anti-Ragging Committee & Squad

Our institution has constituted an active Anti-Ragging Committee comprising the Principal, faculty members, and student representatives. The Anti-Ragging Squad conducts regular patrols to maintain a safe, secure, and ragging-free campus.
